Sensational Diva stopped cold after stalking the pace. She dropped out of it finishing 10th.

12/02/06 ..... Renpher Stable made our Mountaineer Park debut with two of our 2yos on the same card.

Baltic King was first up in the 4th race. Luis Belmonte made the trip from Penn Nat'l to ride. King broke well, crossed over and soon found himself on the lead along the rail. He was being stalked by a foe the whole race. Heading for home King maintained a length lead. Luis shook the reins asking King for more. Baltic King exploded widening his lead to a 12 length victroy!!!!!

Gotcha Shaken was next. He was in a tough Open Allowance race against stakes proven company. Shakey burst out of the gate grabbing the lead. He held it to the top of the stretch. Shakey started to tire when he was hit hard by another horse, into the rail. He was hit again. Belmonte held on and kept Shakey on task but it was over. Sahkey finished 6th and was later moved to 5th after the DQ.

11/30/06 ..... Sir Socrates broke well, settled mid pack down the backside. Clifton had him 5th behind a sub 22 pace. Heading for home he swung wide and had too little too late to finish 5th.

November ends with 11 starts, 2 - 1 - 2. Just one start shy of 20/50.

11/28/06 ..... Spotted Owl broke alertly. He was sitting on the outside stalking the leaders. SO got caught wide the whole way. Heading for home he was hit by the 5th place horse. His head turned to the outside and that was that. He finished 6th, back to fight another day.

11/08/06 ..... Paradiso stalked, made a bid, then faded finishing 3rd.

11/07/06 ..... Social Account ran 6th, but his race was much better than his finishing position. You could throw a blanket over four of them. SA ran a game race.

11/02/06 ..... Sir Socrates was our first of two tonight. Soc made a solid bid and tired running 3rd.

Later on the card Senational Diva was clearly the best drawing away to win by 4 and 1/2.

11/01/06 ..... Datsyuk was second best to open up November. Vladdy Diaz took a hold of Datsyuk settlinghim along the rail 5th. He kept coming, saving ground but was no match for the winner.

10/31/06 ..... Halo Heaven ended the month by running 5th in a tough $25k claiming event.

Renpher Stable maintained it's goal of 20% winners by winning 2 of 10 starts in October.

10/8/06 ..... Tidal Wave showed speed and tired off the board. Breaking from the 8 hole, TW worked hard to gain the early lead. It was too much for him as he tired late.

10/05/06 ..... Social Account never grabbed the "off track". He broke poorly and ran a very uncharacteristic 8th.

Sensational Diva got shut off coming out of the gate. We wanted her on the lead. Instead she was dead last. Diva gained ground, picking off horse by horse. She ran 4th. A claim of foul was disallowed.

10/01/06 ..... Over There had to be put down after damaging his right front ankle during the race today. As usual, OT was in stalking position, trying like mad. He was making his move when the injury occurred. I can honestly say that I loved this horse. He had tremendous heart. He was a pleasure to be with around the barn. All he lived for was to race. He gave it his all.

He will be missed.

09/28/06 ..... September Stats:

13 starts, 5 wins, 3 seconds, 1 third

09/28/06 ..... Sir Socrates closed out the month with a wire to wire victory! Renpher Stable has now won 4 of our last 5 starts!

09/24/06 ..... Renpher Stable claims back Tidal Wave at Delaware Park.

09/21/06 ..... Sensational Diva was making a bid, sitting second on the outside.

Heading for home she blew the turn. Down the stretch she came on again, but it was too little too late finishing 6th.

Social Account made it three wins in our last four starts by holding off the field winning by 1/2 a length. The hard knocking gelding saved ground under Luis Belmonte. Heading for home they slipped through on the rail taking the lead. Three horses were closing fast. Social Account dug in and held off the charge, winning his second in a row.

09/20/06 ..... Renpher Stable wins two on the same card! First up was Sam's Sixteenth. She sat off the pace, swung 3 wide aheading for home then overtook the field down the stretch drawing clear by 1 1/2.

09/14/06 ..... Sir Socrates proved to dislike the sloppy going. He made a bid then faded.

09/13/06 ..... Paradiso broke poorly. He hit himself during the race and that was that. He came from last to 6th. Renpher Stable claimed the winner Datsyuk!

09/11/06 ..... Soup Du Jour ran third in his debut for Renpher Stable. He was claimed away.

09/09/06 ..... We had a great chance, with Double Luck, to win on Owners Day at Delaware Park. A nice crowd of partners were on hand as leading rider Ramon Dominguez got a leg up. Lucky sat off the pace. As they approached the final turn Dominguez had him in gear. He was picking off horses one by one. Lucky collared the leader running second by a shrinking head! He was claimed away.

09/07/06 ..... Over There was clearly second best, beaten by a better horse tonight. OT has been with us since August 5th of 2005.

09/05/06 ..... Sam's Sixteenth looked like a different horse tonight. Unsihuay let her break as she wanted, settling her down behind the leaders. She dropped back to fifth on the outside. As they approached the turn, Unsihuay shook the reins and she went by them drawing away by 5 plus.

09/04/06 ..... Gotcha Shaken made his racing debut in a MSW event. He exploded to the lead, crossed over and settled in for the run. Shakey was overtaken by one rival but was clearly second best. It was a promising race for one of our three 2yos.

08/17/06 ..... Two more tonight. Sam's Sixteenth at Charles Town was first up. She ran too little too late to get 5th.

Over There saved ground along the rail. Three across the track infront of him, OT was swung out heading for home. He went by the leaders, drawing clear to victory!

08/16/06 ..... Two in tonight. Social Account settled in behind the leaders, ran hard to get third. Social Account has hit the board 5 of 6 starts for Renpher Stable.

Paradiso was next up. Diso broke poorly, settling in behind the leaders. When he started to gain his footing, there was no room. He was hut off down the lane finishing 5th.

08/15/06 ..... Sensational Diva ran second tonight in a gutsy performance.

Perez broke her sharp, from the 11 hole. She had enough early speed to duck in one off the rail. Diva battled the inside speed. Heading for home, she blew the turn. Diva came back and went by the inside horse. She probably thinks she won. However, on the outside the winner came from off the pace finishing strong to get the win. Diva was clearly second best.

08/12/06 ..... Sir Socrates set the pace, faded, then came on again to gain third.

08/10/06 ..... Salsa Music never threatened a tough Allowance field at Charles Town. It was for non winners of 2 other then, or 4 lifetime. She had settled into a nice spot but never fired.

08/09/06 ..... Renpher Stable claims Double Luck from Delaware Park.

08/08/06 ..... Renpher Stable claims Soup Du Jour from Delaware Park.

08/03/06 ..... Over There ran second coming on late. Another solid performance by OT.

08/02/06 ..... Paradiso sat in perfect stalking position then faded. In back to back races Social Account ran a game second.

07/26/06 ..... Sir Socrates closed fastest of all but ran out of ground. The 5 1/2 furlong distance was not enough as Soc ran 4th.

07/23/06 ..... Sam's Sixteenth was wiped out at the start when the horse inside of her bore out into her. Sam ran 4th and was placed 3rd.

Later on the card Salsa Music went 8 wide headin for home. She could not overcome the ground lost, finishing 6th. She was beaten a length and a half by the winner, losing place by half a length.

07/17/06 ..... Renpher Stable claims Tidal Wave at Delaware Park.

07/01/06 ..... June Stats

11 2-3-0

06/29/06 ..... Social Account was second best tonight at Penn Nat'l. He ran second most of the way. SA ran out of ground chasing down the leader late.

06/27/06 ..... Over There needed the race. Three straight subpar performances by our horses.

06/26/06 ..... Sensational Diva was bothered leaving the gate and never really got going, at Phila Park.

06/25/06 ..... Sir Socrates turned in a dismal effort over a sloppy track. He made a storng bid then tired.

06/22/06 ..... Paradiso breaks his maiden by 7, going wire to wire at Penn National.

06/18/06 ..... Family Appeal made a bid then ran evenly down the lan. He finished 5th and was claimed.

06/16/06 ..... Salsa Music ran a game second behind a nice filly, nothing to be ashamed of. She broke alertly. Whitacre had her rolling early. He was trying to get her on or near the lead. She wasn't fast enough to cross over form the 8 hole. Going into the first turn she was three wide. It's tough to overcome a wide trip at Charles Town. The turns are so sharp, the rail horse has a huge advantage. Salsa lost two lengths by being three wide. Down the backside she made a move. She was coming at the eventual winner. As they headed for home Salsa had dead aim on the only horse in front of her. She ducked inside the leader and just couldn't cath her. She ran a game second against a tough field. She now has finished in the money 6 of her 7 lifetime starts.

06/15/06 ..... A head. Social Account ran his eye balls out, losing by a head. Belmonte broke him alertly. He was sitting outside the lone speed in a great position. Luis asked him to go, and off he went. Down the lane FA was on the lead digging in. He eyeballed the eventual winner as he caught SA. He held on gamely fighting all the way losing by a short head.

06/07/06 ..... Sensational Diva made her Renpher debut by smashing a maiden field by 7 1/2!

06/06/06 ..... Family Appeal turned in a dull effort finishing 6th. Sitting dead last with slow fractions up front were too much to overcome.

06/03/06 ..... Sam's Sixteenth skidded wide as she blew the turn over a sloppy Monmouth Park surface. She lost any chance of finishing strong running up the field 8th.

05/31/06 ..... Salsa Music came late with little room down the stretch. She closed weel to gain 3rd a nose off second, in an Allowance race at Charles Town.

0526/06 ..... Paradiso tired down the stretch after stalking the early pace. He finished 5th.

5/25/06 ..... Social Account made a late bid finishing 4th going 5 1/2.

5/14/06 ..... Making the 150th Renpher Stable start, Crying Poverty made his bid for three in a row at Finger Lakes. CP took the early lead, widening the margin by 5, then gave way down the lane finsihing 4th against a tough Allowance field.

5/13/06 ..... Paradiso was forced wide entering the Clubhouse turn. He lost ground around the first turn, made a bid then flattened out.

05/02/06 ..... Survivor Kippy gets claimed away!

04/28/06 ..... Over There stumbled badly out of the gate, dumping Clifton.

04/26/06 ..... Social Account needed a race and it showed. SA tired finishing 7th.

4/22/06 ..... Salsa Music made her Stakes debut in The COuntry Life Farm Stakes at Pimlico. The distance got the best of her as she ran 5th in the slop.

04/15/06 ..... Renpher Stable announces a split barn for the first time ever. Horses will be stabled at both Penn National and Delaware Park. Long time friend Marty D, rejoins Renpher Stable. Marty will be responsible for the Delaware operations reporting back to Les Stickler Jr. "Bringing Marty back onto the team is long overdue. He's a Stickler clone. Hands on and hard working. With Les and Marty on board we have great things to look forward to. Being stabled in these two locations offers our partnerships another form of flexibility. We can move horses according to their ability." Bob O, Renpher Stable

04/14/06 ..... Crying Poverty defeated a field of Allowance NY Breds in Finger Lakes Opening Day Feature race. CP flashed his early speed, and drew clear winning by 10! He now has 5 wins in 14 starts with earnings over $82k!!!!!

04/07/06 ..... Over There faced a pretty tough bunch of Starter $6000's. There were two horses sporting 90 plus Beyers from recent efforts.

The gate opened and the speed horses set sub 22 fractions. Sanchez took a hold of OT. He saved ground sitting off the wicked pace. Around the turn OT was getting in gear. The winner won easy but OT made the best of his ground saving trip. He passed the rest and out closed his closest rival. Let me tell you, that second was a great effort by OT. I saw him in the barn Saturday morning. He was a little tired but looked good. He's a tough little competitor.

03/30/06 ..... Renpher Stable had two running. Survivor Kippy made a bid then weakened running 4th. His pair of 4's in the month of March were not we what had hoped for, but they paid the bills.

Salsa Music brought her two race winning streak in against older fillies. She got the lead and drew clear winning easily by a widening 8 3/4 lengths! Salsa now has 3 wins and a 3rd in 4 starts! Her combined victories exceed a winning margin of 20 lengths. Stakes bound?????

3/10/06 ..... Survivor Kippy looked like he was having things his own way. 24/1, 48/2, on his way to a mile. He lead all the way but tired down the lane finishing a disappointing 4th.

03/08/06 ..... Too much too soon, left too little too late as Sam's Sixteenth ran a rare bad race.

03/04/06 ..... Saturday night Crying Poverty killed our streak by becoming the first horse to start this year finishing off the board. Before the race we had two choices. Let Who's Bluffing go out, and run for second, or get in front of him, kick up some dirt and hope for the best. CP broke well and Carlos crossed over pretty effortlessly. He actually put some daylight between himself and Who's Bluffing. Clifton moved WB up alongside. I thought he would blow by us. CP dug in! He actually put Who's Bluffing away! Heading for home CP looked like he might just pull this one off. Speed duels usually set things up for closers and this race was no exception. CP ran just shy of 5/8ths then he packed it in for the night. The fractions were blazing fast. The track is extremely deep, yet CP went 21/2, 44/3, 57/4! That was that.

03/03/06 ..... Salsa Wins for the second yime in three lifetime starts! The gate opens and Salsa broke best of all. She burst into the lead immediately. On the outside Silver Heroine, was rushed up to challenge. Carlos sat with Salsa stalking, sitting second. Around the turn Salsa ranged up, caught the leader and went on by her! Heading for home Salsa was in front. The lead widening to 3 lengths. She held off the field winning by a length and a half! Salsa now has two wins and a second in three starts.

02/23/06 ..... Colonel Duncan was claimed away as he turned in another "in the money" race. CD had two seconds and two thirds for Renpher Stable. We caimed him for $6,500 and lost him for $10,000. The difference in claim money plus his check earning ability made him a profitable partnership. We wish him and his new connections the best of luck.

02/18/06 ..... Survivor Kippy made his Renpher Debut running a distant second behind the red hot winner. Two consecutive races behind tough Allowance winners.

02/17/06 ..... Sam's Sixteenth runs second behind runaway winner Browse. Sam was no match for the winner but was clearly second best. Sam turned in two seconds this month earning far more than her keep.

02/15/06 ..... Salsa Music breaks her maiden in her second lifetime start. She won a MSW event at Penn Nat'l by 12 1/2 lengths!!!!!

02/09/06 ..... Crying Poverty ran 4th after setting sizzling fractions of 21/3, 44/3 on his way against a tough field of sprinters going 6 furlongs. CP was chased down late, finishing within 3 lengths of the winner.

02/08/06 ..... Over There tired down the stretch tonight. We asked Carlos to sit off of Tonto Gusto. If Tonto got loose it was all over. As it turns out, OT was pressed early and could not overcome the fast fractions. He ran a game race finishing third. Thus far Renpher Stable has been "in the money" every start of 2006.

2/4/06 ..... Sam's Sixteenth ran third in Allowance company at Penn Nat'l. Sam was rolling into gear when she was cut off by the leader who was drifting out. Otero had to check, then alter course. Sam lost her momentum but finished strong enough to get third. A claim of foul was disallowed.

01/27/06 ..... Colonel Duncan ran second in a $10k claimer going 1 mile and 70yds. CD could not catch the leader, but was clearly second best.

01/25/06 ..... Survivor Kippy was claimed tonight out of a $12,500 race at Penn Nat'l joining the Renpher Stable family. When you claim a horse, the best scenario is for the horse to run a close second. If the horse wins, you lose the condition. By running a close second you get that warm fuzzy feeling of success while retaining the valuable condition. Tonight Kippy ran second by a head!

01/13/06 ..... Crying Poverty wins a N2X Allowance at Charles Town.
The gate opens and CP broke alertly, probably the best break of his life. He had a 3/4 length lead on the "1" horse inside of him. In a flash the "1" was head and head with CP. Carlos got after him early. CP put a head in front. He looked like he was going to maintain the lead but crossing over was in question. Carlos shook the reins. CP responded. He shot past the inside horse easily clearing him before the turn. Speed is king at Charles Town these days. CP ruled. He drew clear winning by 2 1/4 in 52 flat!

01/05/06 ..... Sam's Sixteenth starts off the new year with a fast closing second in Allowance company. Sam broke well, settling into 6th towards the outside. She kept picking off horses on the outside. Heading for home she gained second taking dead aim at the leader. She ran hard late but ran out of ground, second best.

2005 Comes To An End

This year we had 64 starts. We won at a 23% clip gaining 15 Winners Circle photos. Add to that 15 seconds and 9 thirds. Our "in the money" percentage was incredible at 60%. We were pretty close to a 50% first or second finish with 46% of our starters finishing first or second!!!!!

We expanded to 7 horses, had a couple of solid winning streaks and turned in a terrific year. Before the year started I had hoped we would top our high of 8 wins in a year. I had a goal of 10 wins in mind, with an optimistic goal of 12, one per month. Needless to say the 15 wins far exceeded my hopes.

Our growth and success come as a team. Of course Theresia deserves a ton of credit for all of her hard work, time and time again. Stickler has delivered, delivered, and delivered again. Val has not only helped me with unrealistic trips to the bank, wire transfers of funds for claims and other stuff. Most of all she "covered" for me while I continually missed family events to support the needs of Renpher Stable. Recently Joey O stepped up to the plate to help out with photo distribution. Thank you all.

Have a Happy New Year, and Happy Birthday to all of the horses!!!!!

12/30/05 ..... At long last our 2yo In Training purchase from June made it to her debut at the races. This afternoon Salsa Music gave grounds for expectation and hope.

The instructions to Flores were simple. Send her right from the gate. Unfortunately she broke lousy. Soon enough she was sitting third along the dreaded rail. A horse outside of her crossed over in front causing Emilio to slightly check. I didn't realize this until I got home and watched the replay. Next thing you know Salsa is fifth and not liking dirt in her face for the first time of her life. Flores committed his ride to the rail. As they headed for home he cut the corner taking aim at the only path available along the rail. A horse came in on Salsa narrowing the hole. Flores hit her right handed and she did not respond. I think she didn't like the rail inside of her and getting hit right handed just wasn't going to help matters. Emilio switched hands just in time for the horse along side Salsa to drift off of her. Just when it looked like there was no hope the hole widened. Salsa saw daylight and ran like hell! She closed fastest of all displaying a quick turn of foot. She closed the gap to gain third, losing the race by less than a length while getting beat for second by a neck.

12/29/05 ..... Colonel Duncan could not overcome a strong track bias favoring the front runners. Since racing returned at Penn Nat'l after a series of cancellations, the track has been playing fast. CD likes to break at his own pace running his best late. He ran a respectable 3rd picking off the horses he could catch before running out of ground.

12/28/05 ..... This is unbelievable but true. I'm watching the race thinking Belmonte has him in a great spot. He starts making a move sitting third. As they enter the stretch Prince looks to be in trouble as he changes leads late. Next thing you know he is off the screen. On the screen I can't see anything. As the riders come back they are all turning their heads towards the finish line. That's never good. Now I'm starting to worry. The photo for show comes up and Prince isn't in it. The replay runs and again I lose him off the screen. The order of finish is posted. Prince DNF! Then my cell rings, it's Stickler.
"What the hell happened"? "He broke his shoulder and was put down."
These were two of the soundest horses we had.

12/23/05 ..... The most tragic event in racing occurred to Watrals Rodeo Bob. Bob sustained a serious injury a quarter of a mile into his last effort. He shattered his sesamoid in the right front foot. Bob may have been 9 years old but he was perfectly sound. He was a happy horse who tried hard. In the 5 starts he made for us he won once, ran third twice, a fourth and then tonight.

12/20/05 ..... Sam's Sixteenth was out matched in an A1X at Phila Park. She went wide against a tough field finishing 9th. Her race marked the first time in the last 16 starts Renpher Stable was off the board.

12/10/05 ..... Watrals Rodeo Bob broke at his own pace settling mid pack early on. When he started to roll Rodriguez took him off the rail looking for room that wasn't there. Stuck behind a wall of horses Bob was pointed to a hole that closed as fast as it appeared. He ran hard late gaining third.

12/01/05 ..... Three in a row! Three wins in our last 3 starts. Over There just beat a tough Starter Allowance field at Penn Nat'l. His win will likely vault him to the top of the leader board for wins by a horse at Penn Nat'l with 6. He passed Canal Town in the standings, who he beat tonight.

Carlos broke OT alertly. There were four across the track. He took a hold of OT letting the speed go. Carlos kept OT in the perfect stalking position on the outside. His move was awesome. OT started picking them off one by one. He actually drew clear and won going away!

11/30/05 ..... Two entries in two different tracks andl we won 'em both!!!!! Now that's the way to spend an evening.

Both rides were right on the money. CP got it done. He got the lead within three strides, quickly drawing off to a clear advantage. Heading for home he was in front by 6! They weren't catching him tonight folks. CP is just shy of $50k in earnings in 10 starts. Not a bad 2yo purchase.

Just when you think it can't get any better, Sam's Sixteenth cam from off the pace to win the Renpher Stable double. My main concern were the sharp turns at Charles Town. Dunkelberger took care of that. He gave her the perfect ground saving trip. Down the backside he had her sitting 4th. When he asked, Sam responded. She overcame a strong speed favoring bias to run down the leader. She took down a $21,000 purse for her effort.

How good was November? 11 starts, 5 wins!!!!!, 2 seconds, 2 thirds and 2 fourths. All starters hit the board.

11/27/05 ..... We opted for a $7,500 claimer knowing it would draw a tough field, and it did. Watrals Rodeo Bob was in against better than he had faced in a long time. We were also asking him to go farther than he has ever gone in his 9 years. Not only was it a mile, but it brings with it two turns. Bob broke leisurely and was not pressed by Rodriguez. He sat patiently in the back, all the way in the back! Heading into the second turn I was carefully watching Bob as he went into his first effort requiring two turns. He handled it without a problem, changed leads on the money and started running down horses one at a time! Bob ran out of ground unable to catch the top three. His effort was a credit to his heart. Stickler had him ready to roll. It's a shame we didn't have a softer spot for him.

Renpher Stabled claimed Port Au Prince out of the same race. The Prince has been in the money in each of his 8 starts at Penn National.

11/22/05 ..... Colonel Duncan made his Renpher Stable debut over the sloppy going at Phila Park. Wide the whole trip, Duncan was closing fastest of all. He finished second unable to catch the uncontested pace setter.

11/12/05 ..... Sam's Sixteenth and Watral's Rodeo Bob both turned in thrilling performances. Sam was a fast closing 4th while Bob got our 3rd win of the week! Rodriguez was instructed to sit off the speedy "3" horse. He was told to go after the leader if he was loping along too slowly on the front end. Rodriguez timed the attack perfectly. Down the stretch Bob was fighting head and head along the rail. At one point the "3" horse went by looking like a winner. Bob dug in and would not be denied. He got his head out in front and actually started to draw away. It was a great performance from the old pro.

11/11/05 ..... Crying Poverty was set just off the pace. He quickly ranged up to take the lead. Down the stretch CP was caught between two horses as he gave way finishing 3rd.

11/10/05 ..... OT was sitting 4th behind a wall of horses heading for home. Carlos Nieto saw an opening. OT shot through to win going away in 51/2! Two wins in two days.

10/05/05 ..... Renpher Stable claims Watrals Rodeo Bob off his second consecutive win!

10/01/05 ..... Sam's Sixteenth could not overcome a strong speed bias at The Meadowlands. She clipped heels down the backside and never really found her stride. When she angled out to make a bid it was too little too late.

09/24/05 ..... Over There makes it two in a row as he sets the pace and holds on to win wire-to-wire. OT was the 100th lifetime start for Renpher Stable. He rewarded us with a win bringing home the 22nd lifetime win.

06/02/05 ..... Sticktotheprogram gets claimed away at Charles Town. He ran 11 times for Renpher Stable. 2 wins, 8 for 11 in the money, 10 for 11 5th or better. We had a lot of fun with him and wish his new connections the best of luck. He was a profitable claim for us.

05/14 ..... Crying Poverty ran hard, finishing second. He was beaten by a better horse today.
Within 5 strides CP was clear of the field. At the quarter pole he was just under 2 lengths in front. He was all business. The eventual winner was tucked in on the rail waiting for an opening. Once he got the hole that was all the horse needed. He shot through finishing strong. CP held off the rest of the field getting us a nice check for second, he earned $7200. He also retained the A1X condition.
